Oversee full cycle accounting responsibilities of the Canadian entity, including month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, and preparation of consolidated and statutory financial statements
Ensure accuracy of financial statements and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC and local regulations, statutory guidelines and internal financial policies and procedures
Manage all federal, provincial and local tax compliance requirements and indirect tax compliance
Manage and review payroll processing and reporting
Monitor adherence to controls for financial reporting and evaluate and review business policies and plans to identify and quantify financial risk
Review and interpret functional policies, develop and recommend changes that may have a significant impact on the global finance operations strategy and provide authoritative advice to colleagues to ensure their effective implementation.
Support global team with technical accounting expertise during ad-hoc projects
Participate in annual audit with Big 4 accounting firm
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years accounting and reporting experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a CA/CPA designation is required
Prior public accounting firm experience preferred
Ability to communicate at the Senior Management level, to drive change and to influence internal stakeholders
Must be able to adjust and work effectively in a dynamic, changing environment
Familiar with Canadian tax and payroll regulations
Good analytical skills; ability to challenge the numbers
Extremely organized, detail oriented and hard working
Excellent Excel skills required
Knowledge of accounting ERP systems (NetSuite a plus)
