ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will follow procedures and processes using various equipment to complete tasks while also working on more complex activities independently. Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for assisting experienced Engineers with a variety of day-to-day recurring tasks and follows procedures and processes using various equipment in order to complete tasks.

This Electronicpart/test technician is to support the Electronic Failure Analysis Lab withinthe Materials Engineering organization at the Glendale, AZ campus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execution of electronics failure analysis Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) in accordance with Honeywell and industry (MIL-STD-1580) standards
  • Performing component-level analyses of EEE (Electronic, Electric and Electromechanical) parts and assemblies
  • Regular use of various pieces of equipment for part/assembly evaluation and screening to requirements (Xray, CSAM, SEM, FIB, EDS, MULTIMETERS, CURVE TRACERS, ETC.)
  • Performing dimensional and electrical measurements (resistance, capacitance, etc.)
  • Operation of multi-meters, hermeticity testers, and performing wet lab activities (i.e., use of chemicals, part mounting & cross sectioning)
  • Inspection and testing related to electrical components and assemblies
  • Handling chemicals and operating potentially hazardous processes/equipment (i.e., xray, band saw)
  • Meeting with engineering to clearly understand requirements of the work request
  • Ability to interface with engineering personnel to resolve technical issues
  • Clear articulation in verbal and written communication of technical concepts related to lab work and failure analysis
  • Photographic documentation and technical reporting in a logical manner
  • Recording and reporting of analysis results using Honeywell web-based LIMS software
  • Routine maintenance of laboratory analytical instrumentation equipment

Must be a US Citizen due to contractual agreements

MUST HAVE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of hands-on experience working with Electronic, Electric and Electromechanical components

  • Familiarity with chemical handling, storage, and safety precautions. Awareness of safe laboratory practices, including proper procedures for handling, storage and disposal of strong acids, bases, volatile solvents, toxic chemicals; and an understanding of their hazards.
  • Ability to interpret specifications and schematics
  • Attention to detail, highly organized and able to multi-task
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of oscilloscopes, curve tracers, and multi-meters
  • Experience with cross-sectioning and chemical de-processing
  • Working knowledge of electronic circuitry and components, including capacitors, resistors, transistors, inductors, crystals, transformers, relays, and LEDs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, do things before being asked by others or forced to by events.
  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness.
  • Ability to cope with high demand environment where priorities change frequently, and many jobs are being worked at the same time
