The “SME Electrical” is engineering professionals who will act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in key areas like electrical systems, electrical infrastructure and has knowledge of control / instrumentation systems used in pharmaceutical industries.

Responsible to plan, design & implement best in class electrical systems at various sites located across world. Enhance site team members capabilities to address new professional and organizational needs in the field of electrical systems. Provide expert guidance and support to entire network to ensure the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices are in place. Develop and maintain engineering standards and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry expectations. Act as leader of electrical discipline and work with multi-discipline cross functional teams located across world

How you’ll spend your day
  • Should be able to act as the global electrical SME in API and formulation pharmaceutical industry (Sterile and non-sterile)
  • Should be able to execute and deliver strategic project phases like feasibility studies, conceptual design, FEED and Detail Design related to electrical systems in pharmaceutical industry independently.
  • Must be able to prepare, review, comment and approve the engineering deliverables as per project specification, codes and standards.
  • Should be able to collaborate with other discipline engineers, and design professionals like Process, HVAC, Utility, Architecture, Civil and Automation team, to create electrical deliverables, layouts and electrical load list that adheres to project specifications and standards/local requirements.

  • Should be capable to plan and implement automation system for electrical facility.
  • Should have strong knowledge in developing, reviewing and analyzing the electrical (MV and LV) network simulations study results (in ETAP or equivalent authorized software) including short circuit, load flow, harmonic study, arc flash, and relay co-ordination.
  • Responsible to prepare a list of applicable standards, best practices, datasheet/URS, guidelines etc. and publish them as per plan.
  • Should have good understanding knowledge on SMP/EMP/Engineering standardization/Master data repository.
  • Prioritizing safety of personnel by enforcing proper guidelines, best practices and SOP/protocols, especially regarding earthing and ATEX/UL/PESO/CMRI/FM certifies equipment’s in ATEX/hazardous classified area.
  • Regular collaboration with global functions like (Electrical SMEs, EHS, business partners and with external auditors).
  • Should be able to lead/organize independently the electrical program like community of practice, publishing newsletters, knowledge sharing sessions and vendor presentations.

  • Should have good knowledge on CapEx and OpEx related cost estimation.
  • Capable to select/propose solutions and alternatives with proper justification and without any deviation.
  • Proficient to prepare project execution strategy, schedule/timeline and monitor the progress as per the schedule.
  • Should have skilled to address the deviations (if any) and follow the escalation matrix to report the critical deviation/observations/milestones to the management.
  • Should be capable to provide troubleshooting and corrective solutions to the global SMEs.
  • Capable to adhere to the strict deadline set by the global team, global business partners and project managers.
  • Participation is every weekly/monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly review meeting to update management about the progress, hurdles and next steps.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including design plans, layouts, vendor documentation, any deviations from the original plan.

Control and Instrumentation systems:

  • Ability to read and understand the instrumentation drawings, trip panel drawings, P&ID, logic diagrams, cause and effect, PLC and DCS configuration.
  • Ability to understand the interface engineering between electrical and instrumentation.
  • Ability to identifying the gaps related to GMP, engineering, EHS, business continuity and installation.
  • Provide technical support for the projects, equipment upgrades, commissioning of new plant and equipment.
  • Ability to understand the technical documentation for instrumentation and systems requisitions and performs the technical evaluations.
  • Ability to understand and support the team to Optimizes instrument systems ensuring minimal cost and simplification in compliance with the required guideline and performance.
  • Ability to understand the specifications for instruments, systems (DCS, ESD, PLC, F&G) and installation.
  • Respond to any major occurrence of plant breakdown where control and instrumentation expertise is required, carry out prompt inspection, analyze the fault, repair and re-commission affected plant and equipment to assure the minimum loss of production.
  • Support plant modifications according to central design specification, support any design changes to specialist engineers for approval before implementation.
Your experience and qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in design, engineering, consulting, construction and in commissioning of electrical facility in Pharma / chemical Industry.
  • Working experience in manufacturing, consulting is preferred
  • Bachelors/master’s degree in electrical engineering
