Key job responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities
- As a Senior Network Development Engineer working in Kuiper Networking, you will have end to end ownership (design, engineering, implementation, operations escalation) of our current and newly developing available distributed systems geared towards giving Kuiper the ability to operate within realistic IP networks virtual Kuiper environments at scale. You’ll build systems using the latest AWS technologies, leveraging best-in-industry software engineering practices.
- Lead the design and evolution of highly available hyper-scale networks, driving them from concept to launch, and beyond
- Work closely with our network engineers and software developers to automate network deployment and operations
- Drive operational excellence projects to improve network performance and reliability
- Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions
- Hiring, mentoring and coaching engineers
- Review and implement changes on the networkPhysical and Other Requirements:
- Must be willing to support an off-hours operations escalation pager rotation.- The ability to sit in front of computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail.Preferred experience:
ARM A, M series or ARC processor emulator experience.
Knowledge of networking protocols and applications, including TCP/IP. should include L1-L2.

Have expertise with Linux and RTOS
Invent new tools that enable more frequent and reliable software deployment, test execution, and data analysis as part of a continuous integration and release system.
Develop tools that allow for test execution across multiple environments: virtualized hardware, real hardware-in-the-loop simulations, and on-orbit testing.
Design and Implement Distributed Cloud-based Services and APIsEvangelize engineering excellence best practices and mentor junior engineers.
Design and Implement embedded modeling and simulation for broadband access technologies: LTE, WiMax, WiFi or similar
Solid aptitude in protocol standards such as IPv4, IPv6, Mobile IP, LTE, 802.16e, 802.11b/g/n/ac.
Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts.
Strong theoretical background in Wireless Networks.
Experience with systems integration and testing methodologies.
Knowledge in several of the following: network protocols and applications including TCP/IP, QoS algorithms, cellular/satellite network protocols, software defined networks, network security.
Write high-quality Linux based software for common processors and microcontrollers (e.g. ARM, PowerPC, x86, etc.)
Deep understanding of testing, continuous integration, build, deployment & continuous monitoring.

A day in the life
As a Network Development Engineer for Kuiper, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting the systems that Kuiper's research, development, and design teams rely on to build out our product. You will coordinate with researchers and engineers to build and support the infrastructure they need. You will work with vendors to evaluate, purchase, deploy, and support mission-critical tools. You will customize and integrate third-party software to meet Amazon's needs. You will improve existing infrastructure to ensure it continues to meet Amazon's high bar for operational excellence


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
- 3+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
- Experience in IP networking technologies such as - BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, TCP, IPV6 network hardware platforms, and packet forwarding architectures.
- Network design, engineering, implementation, and/or operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Networking, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
