Contract Type:Full-Time – Permanent
You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients across all sectors of the Financial Services industry as part of a globally integrated network of specialists who come from a range of different backgrounds such as traditional tax practice, industry legal, commercial, technology and Revenue. The work is technically challenging, creative and requires you to work closely with our clients’ businesses.
Your key responsibilities
- Ensure delivery of high quality work and solutions to our clients
- Supervise, support and mentor more junior staff to create and sustain an effective a high performing team of indirect tax specialists.
- Develop and deliver our Indirect Tax teams strategy and our day to day to operations
- Contribute to people initiatives, including retaining and training tax professionals
- Significant involvement in the management of the team both in terms of strategy and operations and also through managing junior staff development and assignment
Skills and attributes for success
- Ability to successfully deliver technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical / business driven approach taken
- Ability to build and maintain tax relationships with clients and provide exceptional levels of client service
- Ability to build networks and relationships internally and externally
- Negotiation skills, able to gain buy-in and handle challenges
- Business development skills – ability to identify and convert opportunities by proactively managing existing client relationships and winning new clients
- Able to manage risk appropriately for both client and the firm.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- ACA/ACCA/CTA or Law qualification or equivalent e.g. a Tax Inspector
- Strong VAT technical skills
- Strong practical and commercial experience having either advised clients or worked ‘in-house’
- Ability to build strong client relationships and commercially aware.
- Negotiation skills, able to sustain opinion and handle challenges.
- Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work
- Effective time management, ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
- Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral
- Enthusiastic team player with ability to create, sustain and manage effective, inclusive teams
- Project management skills, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget
Ideally, you will also have:
- Worked in a tax technical role, either in practice or industry
- Experience working within Financial Services (although this is not a requirement)
