Posting Description
Associate role in the EMEA Emerging Markets Credit team covering corporate and FI clients in the MENA region for the Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB). You will work closely with business partners across the region including Debt Capital Markets, Acquisition and Leveraged Finance, M&A, Corporate Bank, Markets, Treasury Services and Trade Finance. Given the broad sector and client base covered, the team is focused on performing credit analysis on Investment Grade and Non-Investment Grade clients as well as structuring and documenting a wide variety of credit products.
Job responsibilities
- Strong credit analysis skills. The candidate will be able to lead in-depth due diligence processes and coordinate and produce concise and insightful credit memos with clear recommendations, which will be the basis on which credit decisions are made.
- Excellent financial modeling skills. The candidate will be able to challenge industry teams on modelling assumptions and be able to understand key conclusions and devise appropriate downside scenarios.
- Familiarity with, and a basic understanding of, loan documentation, including LMA standard and leveraged finance documents and key ISDA/CSA documentation. The candidate should demonstrate an ability to negotiate and prioritize various documentation terms and show and ability to understand transaction structures.
- Close working relationships with stakeholders in multiple teams including Coverage, product specialists (DCM, LF, Trade, TSS), Markets (Derivative Sales), Capital Markets and M&A.
- Regular liaison with credit executives as well as analysts for transaction approvals and coordination, portfolio management and other day to day activities.
- Prime responsibility for the pro-active management of exposure to a portfolio of names and industry sectors.
- Understanding of J.P. Morgan’s Risk management policies and credit systems. Lead credit related interactions with internal and external parties.
- Coaching and development of junior team members to bring them up the curve, both on the job and through trainings.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Strong analytical and credit skills/judgment, with an intensive 'hands on' approach to digging into the details of credit and structure.
- Good product knowledge of a wide range of lending, derivative and treasury services products and documentation associated with these products.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Strong project management skills and demonstrable end to end ownership of work/projects.
- Be able to establish credibility and trust with clients, internal business partners, product specialists and credit officers, and to partner with them effectively.
- Team player, with coaching and development ability towards more junior colleagues.
- Self-starting, result-driven, multi-tasking, risk-reward mindset and adaptable to change given the dynamic nature and timing of workflow.
- Significant experience (at least 2-3 years) in roles with relevant skills for this position.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Previous experience of reviewing and commenting on loan documentation/core corporate derivative documentation is recommended.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
