In coordination with Country People Manager for South Korea, the Employee Relationship Manager is in charge of designing, maintaining and implementing employee relationship strategy and guidelines aligned with not only local HR requirements but also company-wide direction at global level.

Job Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with Country People Manager for South Korea, design, maintain and implement employee relationship strategy and guidelines aligned with not only local HR requirements but also company-wide direction at global level.
  • Act as a professional advisor for ER topics. Provide high-quality support and advice, ensuring the effective management of ER-related risks (legal, financial and reputation)for employee relations issues e.g. disciplinary, grievances, harassment, litigation case management, resource optimizations/ re-organizations etc.
  • Provide advice, counsel and relevant trainings to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws.
  • Maintain and interpret various labor agreements, administer grievance procedures, and provide labor relations support during contract negotiations.
  • Manage collective bargaining items (e.g. promotion, merit increase) until the smooth transition to the global systems
  • Act as a liaison between company managers and union representatives
  • Ensure compliance with employment regulations and labor related local regulations and administer internal / external government audits
  • Work effectively in a diversified environment and use best practices and knowledges of internal or external business issues in regard to complex HR/ER topics.
  • Lead local or regional projects

Scope & Contribution:

  • Perform or coordinate day-to-day activities to meet departmental objectives. Carries out root cause analysis in more complex problems, and develop, implement recommendations.

  • Work to influence others to accept job function’s view/practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • Requires ability to communicate with functional leadership regarding team & technical matters.
  • May conduct briefings with senior leaders within ER area. May at times be required to negotiate regarding operational issues.
  • Have cross-cultural knowledge and global mindset
  • Listening and analytical skills to capture the underlying root cause of the problem and provide effective solutions

Others

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Language fluency both in Korean and English
  • +5 years direct union experience in South Korea or equivalent experience in ER or HR
  • Extensive knowledge of South Korea labour laws and practices
  • Good level of understanding around labor market
  • Experience to work at multinational and matrix organization
  • Strong team player
