Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Substations/Grid Connections Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) Design Manager to join its design team in Dublin, Ireland.As a Substations/Grid Connections CSA Design Manager at AWS, you will lead designs for the substations and grid connections that power our AWS DCs in our Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) geography and impact other projects around the world. As a Substations/Grid Connections CSA Design Manager, you will be part of a highly creative and efficient design team comprised of Architects, Engineers, and Designers tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. As a subject matter expert, you will have a direct impact on the prototypical design of the facilities, provide technical guidance, solve large scale implementation issues, and be responsible for CSA design requirements.Key job responsibilities
• Management of Civil, Structural and Architectural design scope for HV/MV Substation and Grid Connection projects;
• Create, review and release RFP’s for external Design Consultants and Design and Build Contractors;
• Work with High Voltage Electrical Engineers to produce substation site layouts during data centre masterplanning design;
• Manage our external CSA Design Consultants through the Design & Construction Administration phases of projects;
• During the Design Phase, act as the Owners Representative ensuring timely delivery, within budget and to the required quality level. This shall specifically include: review of civil engineering designs; evaluating geotechnical reports and civil engineering design options; review of structural engineering designs; review of architectural designs including cladding, roofing, doors and internal layouts;
• Prepare and execute Building Permit strategies for HV/MV Substations and associated Grid Connections;
• Liaise with the Authorities having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and Energy Utilities regarding Building Permitting and Design approvals;
• Coordinate with internal and external MEP Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Construction Managers, Technical Programme Managers;
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency;
• Develop and maintain a CSA Basis of Design, prototype design and template specifications for HV/MV Substations and Grid Connection project
• Travel for site assessments, design, AHJ and construction meetings.
• Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited school;
• +5 years experience in design of industrial projects;
• Experience in creating, reviewing and approving civil engineering design requests for proposal, bids, designs and documentation.
• Solid working proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite.
• Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards including Eurocodes.;


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineering (PE) license;
• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering;
• Project Management Certificate
• Experience leading multidisciplinary designs (Civil, Structural, Architectural, Electrical and Mechanical);
• Solid working proficiency in Civil 3D, Revit and Bluebeam.
• 3+ years experience in the Power/Utility sector including HV/MV Substation and Grid Connection Projects or equivalent experience in other utilities (linear infrastructure);
• Direct experience dealing with AHJ’s and Energy Utilities;
