KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Chief Development Architect (m/f/d) for Sales Performance Management (SPM), you will drive the overall architecture strategy, governance, TCO, Cloud Qualities, and stakeholder collaboration model; which includes BTP and other LoBs.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Driving an aligned and consistent state-of-the-art architecture strategy and the execution of that strategy for Next Generation SPM Cloud Business Applications. Key topics could include scale, resilience, stability, and security.
- Creating architecture concepts and driving their implementation. Delivering specific Architecture Concept Documents and Architecture Decision Records and advising other architects and key experts.
- Developing prototypes as proof-of-concept for technical decisions.
- Evaluating architecture risks and estimating effort for business cases, preparing senior management decisions, advising senior management and chief product managers regarding technical feasibility and architectural implications.
- Organizing collaborative architecture work across teams which may include guiding complex cross-functional and end-to-end technology initiatives.
- Participation in design sprint phases with involved architects of product and implementation teams.
- Driving continuous improvement and innovations in development processes, methodologies, architectures, technology.
- Exploring new technologies, evaluating their viability for our use cases, trade-offs, and surfacing options for decision.
- Guide, coach and mentor engineers while giving them space to learn and grow.
- Support customer and partner workshops and provide solution architectures and input to enterprise architecture.
- Drive an innovation agenda by staying up to date on technology trends and latest Business Technology Platform roadmap with an eye on continuous improvement and strategic technology focus.
- Strong participation and scaling technical leadership in local architecture communities of practice.

- Industry Knowledge and Network– 15+ years of professional experience
- Passionate about architecture vision, governance, and software development
- Profound experience in defining, aligning, and creating architectures and adoption roadmaps
- Deep understanding and broad experience in designing and implementing large-scale cloud applications
- Proven experience in designing, developing, deploying, and testing multi-tenant business applications in the cloud with a focus on cloud, computer, or storage, as well as their costs
- Experience in developing and scaling reliable data-driven microservices and APIs
- Knowledge of cloud-native principles and demonstrated experience of system design
- Proven ability to work in an agile and DevOps environment using SCRUM methodology
- Familiar with one of the major cloud providers
- Excellent Communication Skills– Very strong technical communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills at the executive level. Strong oral and written English language skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills–with the ability to navigate complex technical and business challenges.

Preferred skills and experience
- Experience in data science or data engineering
- Knowledge of SAP Business Technology Platform and Services, SAP Business AI
- Experience scaling databases on cloud infrastructure
- Hands-on DevOps experience with Kubernetes
- Familiar with big data and machine learning architectures and platforms.
Education requirements:Bachelor, Master or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, or other relevant disciplines
Language requirements: Native English, other languages are a plus.
