This job establishes a cohesive product vision and strategy across the company, leading product strategy development with cross-functional teams. It balances innovative design with technical implementation while meeting regulatory requirements and customer needs. The focus is on enhancing customer experience, using metrics for product success, and standardizing analytics and market research for data-driven decisions. Responsibilities include ensuring product profitability, leading operational reviews, and collaborating with global partners to maximize efficiency in a dynamic environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Establish a shared vision across the company for one or more products with a deliberate and cohesive strategy.
  • Leads product strategy development, and develops a clear, executable view of the product strategy with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Influences the architectural roadmap and balances innovative design and technical implementation, while balancing regulatory requirements, time-to-market, meeting customer needs and product profitability.
  • Champions the customer experience and prioritizes customer needs in product requirements and decision making.
  • Defines and uses metrics that inform the success of products including usability studies, research and market analysis.
  • Standardizes workstreams to include analytics, customer discovery, market research and competitive analysis to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Responsible for product profitability, including budgetary decisions.
  • Leads operational mechanisms that drive execution and accountability including Product Reviews, Operating Reviews, and Business Reviews. Interfaces with senior leadership as needed.
  • Leads a cross-function team, partnering with global partners including content strategists, data scientists, product designers and user experience researchers.
  • Maximizes efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the standard.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience

Highly Technical Product Leader
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to engage deeply with engineering teams, understand system architecture, and evaluate tradeoffs between scalability, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Thinks like a product manager — balancing user needs, technical feasibility, and business outcomes — while being able to translate complex technical concepts into clear strategies for both internal and external stakeholders.
Proven Experience Shipping Co-Developed Products
  • Track record of building and launching
    jointly developed products
    with external partners at scale, from concept through design, technical integration, testing, and go-to-market.
  • Demonstrated ability to align cross-company priorities, negotiate product scope, and drive execution across multiple organizations.
Global Platform & Enterprise Partnership Experience
  • Extensive experience working with
    large, global companies and platforms
    (e.g., Big Tech, multinational merchants, or global financial institutions), navigating complex decision-making structures and cultural differences.
  • Ability to influence senior product and engineering leaders at partner organizations and create alignment between long-term strategic roadmaps.
Deep Domain Expertise in Platforms, Payments, and Commerce
  • Comprehensive understanding of
    payments infrastructure, identity, wallets, and commerce ecosystems
    , with the ability to connect macro-industry trends to PayPal’s strategic direction.
  • Skilled at identifying how emerging technologies (e.g., AI, agentic commerce, tokenized identity) intersect with partner strategies to create new product opportunities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance considerations across regions and how they impact product design and partnership execution.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $188,000 to $323,950
