Required qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Accounting or in Business, with an accounting focus
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • The desire and disposition to analyze and reconcile financial and costing information
  • Excellent organizational ability and a high attention to detail
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication ability and exceptional interpersonal skills

Other desired but not required qualifications include:

  • Work experience related to construction accounting such as project accounting or asset classification and allocation
  • Business writing experience such as drafting a project overview, summary or process flow activities
  • Exposure to capital cost allowance tax depreciation rules
  • A commitment to learning construction industry terminology, income tax asset classification rules, assets utilized in various industries and use of technology tools to streamline CAR processes

Responsibilities:

Working closely with Senior CAR team members, the Tax Technician will

  • Perform initial detailed costing analysis of client project costs, including construction, equipment and other indirect costs
  • Draft project overviews of client capital projects
  • Prepare facility square footage area analysis
  • Draft initial tax technical narratives to support classifications of assets
  • Prepare CAR overview presentations for potential clients
  • Assist with the preparation of CAR Statements of Work
  • Prepare client information requests
