The position is suitable for a dynamic individual with demonstrated experience in medical imaging in a clinical setting, including understanding of theory and physics of MRI, familiarity with data acquisition and experience with quality control/ analysis techniques.


Areas of responsibility & Tasks:

  • Ensure image quality review and GCP compliance of clinical studies and business requests during image data management.
  • Provide input based on experience to develop clinical study imaging manuals.
  • Perform image review and give written/verbal feedback to clinical sites to ensure adequate image quality and protocol compliance during clinical studies.
  • Perform established image processing techniques (e.g., contouring of structures, performing preliminary measurements of lesions and volumes, converting imaging formats) in MRI and across multiple modalities using proprietary software as well as third party software
  • Travel to clinical study sites to assist with or perform their initiation and training. In certain cases, the site training may need to be performed remotely (i.e. web conference or similar) with equivalent efficacy.
  • Developing effective working relationships with stakeholders to fulfill the needs of the clinical study. This may include internal staff and personnel at participating clinical centers.
  • Applying practical and clinical experience to projects in the delivery of key documentation or data.
  • Maintenance, training, and support of computerized image systems in cooperation with the image data specialist(s). (System-specific training will be provided.)
  • With a LEAN Mindset participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible.
  • Perform project specific tasks in compliance with Good Clinical Practices (GCP), regulatory requirements (21CFR Part 11, GDPR, HIPAA, etc.), applicable departmental and enterprise-wide SOPs and project specific protocols

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • At least BSc or MSc in Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Radiography, Clinical Neuroimaging, or related field.
  • Relevant professional qualifications and certifications
  • Significant experience in MRI, ideally with proven knowledge in at least one other imaging modality (e.g., PET/CT, SPECT, US).
  • In-depth expertise and hands on experience in scanner qualification (phantom imaging and analysis) and image Quality Control.
  • Good understanding of PACS/RIS systems and patient workflows.
  • Substantial experience of MR scanning with at least one of the major scanner manufacturers.
  • Knowledge in acquisition protocol optimization
  • Basic knowledge of MR physics and signal processing techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of the different types of pulse sequences commonly used in clinical practice.
  • Understanding of quantitative MRI techniques.
  • Good understanding of paramagnetic relaxation effects relating to contrast agents.
  • Ability to conduct image analytics for advanced MR applications (i.e., Diffusion and Perfusion).
  • Good knowledge of MRI artifacts and ways to reduce/eliminate them.
  • A high degree of initiative and the ability to work systematically and independently is expected.
  • Experience with Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM).
  • Experience in using medical imaging workstations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Prior experience working at an Imaging Core Lab or similar environment.
  • Experience with writing clinical study manuals (e.g., imaging manual or quality control manual).
  • Knowledge of the use of power injectors and their setup.
  • Understanding of other imaging modalities such as Molecular Imaging
