Responsibilities
Implements and tracks R&D project plans, under guidance from other engineers.
Researches novel, reliable and scalable manufacturing methods for optical fiber preforms and hollow core optical fibers and seeks to validate them. Provides recommendations to project team members as to which approaches are most successful.
Operates state-of-the-art optical fiber manufacturing equipment in a safety conscious and quality focused environment.
Uses data and statistical analysis to identify problems or flaws that may affect a novel process. Identifies possible solutions and bring them to the attention of other R&D engineers or team leaders.
Follows established procedures to create detailed reports, operating procedures, and process control requirements, in support of technology transfer to engineering and production teams.
Communicates project progress/status within the project team (e.g., to customers and partners) and escalates issues as necessary.
