Description
As a Codec Modeling Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, integrating and maintaining software models for various video encoder, decoder and display/video processing IPs. Responsibilities will include:- Define, document and implement C/C++ bit-accurate and transaction level models with chip and media IP architecture teams - Work with the SOC performance team to model memory latency and IP performance- Work with the SOC modeling team to integrate the IPs in full SOC models- Develop and run benchmarks for encoder video quality assessment and optimization
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS or EE
  • Experience developing software video codecs or C-Models for HW validation
  • Experience in C/C++ coding and debugging
  • Knowledge of modern video coding standards such as HEVC, VVC and AV1
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in CS or EE
  • 3+ years in developing software video codecs or C-models for HW validation
  • Experience working in a chip development environment with RTL designers and verification engineers
  • Experience integrating IP models into chip simulation platforms
  • Experience working with C-modeling tools, including C/C++, SystemC and scripting languages such as Perl and/or Python
  • Knowledge of frame-level video encoding algorithms such as perceptual quality optimization, rate control, GOP selection, two-pass encoding
Pay & Benefits
  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Note: Apple benefit, compensation and employee stock programs are subject to eligibility requirements and other terms of the applicable plan or program.
