Your key responsibilities
- Advise and assist clients in federal and provincial tax audits and propose strategies for resolving disputes.
- Prepare notices of objection, written representations and submissions to the tax authorities.
- Represent clients in disputes (court appeals, judicial reviews, voluntary disclosures, requests for relief, etc.).
- Draft legal opinions on tax consequences and perform post-deal audits.
- Supervise junior lawyers and help with business development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across EY’s national and global networks.
Skills and attributes for success
- 1 to 2 years of experience in tax litigation, including representations before the courts.
- Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec.
- Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program or a Master of Taxation (an asset).
- Outstanding academic and professional credentials.
- Bilingual (French and English), with excellent writing and speaking skills.
- Strong social skills for working with and integrating into groups.
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
- Analytically minded, able to work independently and client-oriented.
