As part of Jacob’s Operations Management & Facilities Services (OMFS) Group the
Regional Technical Specialistwill assume a leading role on special projects performing Project Development Evaluations and Full Contract Operation (FCO) reviews. You’ll provide client and business development support, evaluate facilities and suggest improvements to operations personnel and/or design engineers, assist with the startup, development of operational guides and perform training and performance evaluations for new facilities. You’ll also analyze process control procedures and recommend changes where needed; prepare monthly reports to the Director of Technical Specialists on utilization, work summaries and work projections; review designs for operability; perform project follow up reviews to determine client satisfaction with past service and develop recommendations on the need for future service; and prepare or assist in the preparation of proposals. While the location is flexible, the candidate should preferably be based in the Southern U.S. and reside near a major airport. Position will require 50% travel.
• Ten (10) years of experience in operation and maintenance of water/wastewater treatment plant facilities; or 7 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Water/Wastewater Operator Certification at the highest level required by resident State, or ability to obtain within one year of employment
• Experience in budget preparation and financial accountability
• Four (4) years of experience in a supervisory capacity
• Experience with technical writing, prepare and give presentations
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
• Valid State Driver’s License with no major infractions
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Water Process Database experience (HACH Wims)
• International work experience
• Extensive knowledge of methods to reduce operating costs of a treatment plant through efficiency in energy consumption, chemical addition, staffing strategies and solids disposal
• Previous successful experience providing staff leadership, communication, staff assignments, and developing staff capabilities
• Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, and strong technical problem-solving skills
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as, outdoors which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. Safety is of the utmost importance. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
