Key Responsibilities:
Virtual Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain VMware virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN where applicable.
VM Administration: Create, configure, and manage virtual machines (VMs) for both Linux and Windows operating systems, including templates and clones.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor and optimize the performance of virtual machines and the overall virtual infrastructure.
Security Management: Implement and enforce security policies and access controls within the virtual environment.
Backup and Recovery: Develop and execute backup and disaster recovery strategies for virtual machines.
System Updates and Patches: Regularly apply system updates, patches, and maintenance to virtual machines and VMware infrastructure.
Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtual machine performance, storage, networking, and other technical problems.
Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for VM configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
Capacity Planning: Analyze and plan for capacity needs of the virtual infrastructure, including resource allocation and scaling.
Collaboration: Work closely with network, security, and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of the virtual environment.
REQUIRED:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in VMware, Linux, and Windows administration.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft Certified: Windows Server are preferred
SKILLS:
Proficiency in VMware ESXi, vCenter, and virtualization best practices.
Strong experience with Linux distributions and command-line administration.
Expertise in Windows Server administration, including Active Directory and Group Policy.
Familiarity with storage and network configurations in a virtualized environment.
Understanding of virtualization concepts and best practices for performance optimization.
Knowledge of scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
Advanced knowledge of virtual networking, including VLANs, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
Experience with cloud integration and management will be preferred.
Familiarity with containerization technologies and their integration with virtual environments.
Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools such as vRealize Operations or similar
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
