A Senior Cybersecurity Automation Engineer is a professional who specializes in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated security systems to protect an organization's computer networks and systems. This role involves a combination of cybersecurity expertise and programming/scripting skills to create scripts and tools that automate security tasks, such as threat detection, response, and compliance checks.
Your key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement automation scripts and tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of cybersecurity operations.
- Collaborate with security analysts and engineers to understand manual processes and identify opportunities for automation.
- Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks to support security incident response, threat hunting, and compliance monitoring.
- Develop integrations between various security platforms and tools to enable seamless data sharing and automated workflows.
- Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies to continuously improve automated defenses.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure that automation tools are functioning correctly and meeting security requirements.

To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on automation and scripting.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar.
- Experience with security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) platforms.
- Knowledge of security technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS and endpoint protection.
- Familiarity with cloud security and automation tools in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Relevant cloud or cybersecurity certifications are a plus.
