Your impact

In this dynamic role, you'll be at the forefront of designing innovative waste strategies for some of the world’s most ambitious developments — from cutting-edge mixed-use communities to megaprojects like airports and railways. You’ll collaborate with international teams, influence master planning decisions, and help shape the future of sustainable infrastructure.

The work is likely to include the following deliverables:

  • Waste strategy – Review of development proposals to identify preferred waste management approaches (waste segregation, storage, collection and treatment) to underpin waste management strategies). This includes development of technical reports to support RIBA design stages for architecturally led building and master plan projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.
  • Circular economy strategy – clients are increasingly interested in circular economy and request that opportunities are sought to incorporate it into the design and operation of projects.
  • Waste arisings modelling – Development of excel models to estimate waste arisings to inform the development of waste strategies. This may include operational wastes, typically municipal solid wastes, and construction and demolition waste estimates.
  • Optioneering/feasibility studies – At an early stage in projects production of optioneering or feasibility studies may be required to identify a preferred waste management approach this may consider innovative technologies such as automated waste collection or provision of largescale infrastructure such as a waste transfer or recycling facilities.
  • Waste management design – working with architects to design and plan for waste management as part of building and master plan projects. This may include design of buildings, master plans or waste management facilities. This requires coordination with multidisciplinary teams including architectural, goods/logistics, structural and MEP specialists.
  • Site waste management planning – preparation of site waste management plans or input to construction environmental management plans for management of construction and demolition wastes.
