In the Asia-Pacific Assurance Communications and Engagement (C&E) Assistant Director role, you will work closely with Global, Area and Region teams supporting the Assurance service line. Reporting to the Asia-Pacific Assurance BMC Leader, you will work closely with the Asia-Pacific Assurance Managing Partner, the Global Assurance C&E Leader and the broader Asia-Pacific BMC team to internally communicate and engage our people and partners in the Assurance service line and beyond.
Your key responsibilities
The Asia-Pacific Assurance C&E Leader role will primarily drive the delivery of internal communications programs in line with the broader integrated Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) plan.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage relationships with key Assurance stakeholders across the BMC organization and across Asia-Pacific, establishing sponsors and subject matter resources for programs.
- Produce communications on a range of topics and contribute to firmwide messaging on strategic issues such as audit quality and business transformation.
- Produce written internal communications from Asia-Pacific Assurance Leaders and provide counsel on best practice; cadence, timing, channels and communication innovations
- Enable and deploy BMC C&E programs in the Area, working with the business to find sponsors and champions.
- Collaborate with the Asia-Pacific Assurance BMC leader to create strategic C&E programs that align with Assurance business priorities to achieve strong business results and exceptional internal engagement.
- Produce written and visual internal communications from Asia-Pacific Assurance Leaders and provide counsel on best practice and communication innovations.
- Work with the entire BMC team to align internal messages, ensuring consistency across all brand, marketing and communications
- Work collaboratively with Area and Region BMC teams within Asia-Pacific to support deployment and customisation of Global and Asia-Pacific programs
- Heavily support the Asia-Pacific Assurance Technology and Strategic Enablement function in communicating and engaging audit people across Asia-Pacific on the audit transformation agenda
- Provide guidance, information and support to enable successful deployment of relevant internal programs
- Support methods for driving innovation and change across the organization; key focus on change management communication in preparation for upcoming organizational transformation
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on issues and topics relevant to Assurance, market trends and the long-term implications these might have on EY’s brand strategy generally
This role is based in Asia-Pacific, preferably in Hong Kong and Singapore
Skills and attributes for success
- Understanding of the Assurance business, particularly the audit practice
- Technical: Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Extensive communication experience including development of communications plans and a diverse range of communication tactics such as copywriting, speech writing, presentation development and visual production.
- High level of influencing and networking skills across all levels of stakeholder engagement.
- Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrated reliability and self-initiative.
- Stakeholder management: experience understanding, aligning and proactively resolving a wide range of issues at the most senior levels within a large, matrix organization.
- Change management: comprehensive knowledge of the change process and implementation best practices to drive action and advocacy as part of change initiatives.
- Business acumen: Demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities concerning global business fundamentals, business models, ethics, competitive analysis and cross-cultural/geographical sensitivities.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, managing multiple priorities effectively
- Ability to synthesize complex information into simple, high impact messages
- A willingness to work remotely and flexibly in a self-motivated and autonomous fashion whilst retaining close contact with the Asia-Pacific Assurance BMC Leader (this may at times include evenings and early mornings due to time zones).

To qualify for the role you must have
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of professional services industry
- Minimum eight years of strategic internal communications experience with a global organization and/or complex organization, with a focus on Internal Communications and Engagement
- Experience working in diverse teams
- Outstanding communication abilities
- Experience of working effectively in a cross-cultural/cross-time zone environment for multiple stakeholders and audiences including with virtual high-performing teams.
- A proven ability to be flexible and shift priorities based on business needs
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent area of study).
- A strong understanding of change management and working with the change management function to deliver major business transformations
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity, as this role will involve daily interaction with people in countries around the globe
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Knowledge of finance and accounting
- Experience working in internal and external communications
- Experience with the use of a variety of digital channels to deliver initiatives to targeted audiences
