Job responsibilities:
- Provide technical accounting support for business, or corporate aligned activities as well as large or unusual transactions, partnering with internal business and finance teams
- Monitor developments in accounting standards and represent the Firm at relevant industry forums
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards
- Review relevant sections of SEC filings and selected IFRS financial statements, including MD&A and footnotes
- Prepare and conduct internal education sessions
- Provide technical support to senior management and businesses on accounting and control related matters
- Develop and implement accounting policies, and accounting standards, and monitor policy exceptions
- Represent the Firm in external forums, including meetings with standard-setters, regulators, external auditors and industry groups
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Accounting qualification, and previous experience in a technical accounting department at a financial institution
- Detailed working knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS, particularly in relation to financial instruments, consolidation and transfers of financial assets
- Results oriented and takes ownership for the quality, timeliness, and success of the work product
- Delivers timely and high quality work consistently over time
- Team player consistently present and available for clients and team members
- Ability to understand and analyze complex transactions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to clearly and concisely articulate technical accounting issues and conclusions to a range of stakeholders
