In this role you will play a critical role contributing to the growth of our ecology capabilities in Queensland as part of our environmental assessment and approvals team. You will have the opportunity to lead and deliver diverse, challenging and rewarding ecology projects for government and industry sectors across Queensland. This includes baseline ecology studies and impact assessments to inform client project feasibility studies and assist clients with meeting their environmental requirements under relevant legislation. You will possess a desire to work collaboratively with our national ecology network and partner with the broader Jacobs business to provide ecological expertise across our market sectors. You will also play a key role in the delivery of our strong project pipeline in environmental impact assessment, primary and secondary environmental approvals, and environmental management.
As a, you will have a strong background in Queensland flora and fauna survey, and an in-depth knowledge of the Queensland and Commonwealth regulatory framework in relation to ecological and environmental approvals including offsets. You will have extensive experience in the delivery of complex ecological impact assessment and approvals projects across the state from both a technical and commercial perspective.

- Lead and support the delivery of terrestrial ecology projects, working collaboratively with a range of technical disciplines.
- Lead and contribute to identifying, sourcing and winning opportunities by building strong relationships with clients and responding to requests for tender.
- Provide guidance to the strategic direction of the ecology business.
- Support the growth and development of our team through training and mentoring.
The role is based in our Brisbane office where you will be a key member of a Queensland based ecology team working alongside our team of environmental professionals with experience ranging from recent graduates to principals with over 20 years in the industry. You will be well supported by the national ecology team of 30+ energetic and friendly ecological specialists across New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. The Brisbane team is part of a national planning and environmental approvals practice enabling you to work on projects across Australia with 250+ colleagues in our environmental solutions business. The role requirements include tertiary qualifications in ecology, environmental science, natural resources management or a related discipline and 5+ years industry experience in the delivery of ecology projects. You must be capable in Regional Ecosystem identification and BioCondition asessment and have strong skills in identification of south-east Queensland flora, and well organised in data collection and management. A current driver’s licence and 4WD training and experience, or willingness to complete training, are also required.
You will be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the Queensland and Commonwealth environmental legislation, regulatory framework and their application, particularly in relation to theVegetation Management Act 1999, Environmental Offsets Act 2014andEnvironment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. You will have extensive experience in the delivery of ecology survey for environmental approvals in Queensland, highly developed report writing skills and desire to be involved in business development and capture.
