At Qualcomm, we’re at the forefront of innovation. Our team in Espoo works on a state-of-the-art 5G+ modem within an ORAN-compliant base station SoC. Here’s what you’ll be involved in:

• System Design: Dive into the heart of our modem architecture.

• Coding and Modeling: Implement operations in hardware and firmware.

• Test Vector Creation: Collaborate with colleagues to create efficient test vectors.

• Automation: Develop scripts to streamline processes.

• Debugging: Tackle complex issues and improve performance.

• Exploration: Research features and algorithms for future firmware releases.

Your Role

As an Engineering Intern, you’ll contribute to making our base station modem the best in the market. You’ll work closely with experienced mentors, gaining hands-on experience with a large codebase. Choose between our Systems Engineering or Software Engineering teams based on your interests and skills.

Key Technologies

• 5G Physical Layer: Dive into the intricacies of 5G, whether in hardware or software.

• Signal Processing: Explore beamforming techniques.

• ORAN Fronthaul Packet Processing: Understand the backbone of our communication systems.

• AI/ML Algorithms: Get hands-on with beamforming-related algorithms.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic grasp of communications theory or digital signal processing.

• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts.

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (C/C++, Python, or Matlab).

• Excellent communication skills and a desire to collaborate in a cross-cultural team.

• Flexibility to work across different time zones.

Desired Skills and Experience

While the specifics depend on your assignment, we’d love to see expertise in:

• 5G NR and LTE physical layer.

• Information theory, coding theory, adaptive filtering, signal detection, and estimation.

• AI/ML algorithms and programming.
