The Accountant performs general accounting activities including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts, preparation and review of journal entries, and review of financial results in accordance with established department policies, procedures and Service Level Agreements with limited supervision. This individual also prepares reports and analysis of financial information for review by management. He/she must have a broad knowledge of accounting and finance concepts and utilizes independent judgment to complete assignments and resolve issues.

(include but are not limited to the following):

  • Perform general accounting activities including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts and review of financial results.
  • Preparation/review and posting of journal entries
  • Processing of payments and expense reimbursements in accordance with the company policy
  • Ensure invoices are approved and processed in accordance with the company policy.
  • Preparation of vendor reconciliation statements and following up on outstanding items
  • Generate reports related to Accounts Payables
  • Preparing the following:
    • Monthly Corporation Tax computation
    • Quarterly tax Corporation Tax review
    • Value Added Tax (VAT) review.
    • Yearly Tax filings as per GRA requirements
  • Manage the Treasury and cashflow.
  • Prepare intercompany and IFM reports
  • Prepare weekly bank balance report for the Regional Accountant
  • Reviewing and maintaining schedule for WHT and ensuring remittance on time to GRA
  • Prepare Monthly Bank Reconciliations and Balance Sheet Schedules
  • Manage and oversee internal and external audits.
  • Coordinate and manage all month end / quarter end and year end close activities.
  • Support Operations Teams across EYC region
  • Preparation of monthly cash flow statements
  • Manage timely close of monthly/quarterly/yearly accounting close
  • Prepare Monthly Management Accounts and other requirements as per bank mandate
  • Preparation of Quarterly/Yearly Statutory Financial Accounts as per EYC requirements
  • Coordinate/perform delivery/pick up of company documents/payments with bankers/auditors and other organisations
  • Assist with special projects as required
  • Any other tasks assigned by Manager or Finance Director

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • professional accounting designation i.e. ACCA, CA, CPA, CIMA
  • a minimum of 3 years of directly related work experience
  • ability to understand the expectations of customers and deliver service that meets or exceeds customers' needs within policy guidelines;
  • the ability to identify and resolve issues that impact the delivery of quality service
