In this role, you will be involved in the training, design, development, and QA of next-generation SoCs, CPUs, and corporate standard cell libraries using advanced process technologies for Intel products, IoT devices, and Intel Foundry customer designs.


Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Validate Register Transfer Level (RTL) model functionality for next-generation embedded circuit solutions, utilizing CAD tools for logic simulation and circuit performance evaluation.

  • Define and implement VLSI structural design methodology, including tasks such as synthesis, floor planning, power-grid and clock tree designs, timing closure, and place-and-route.

  • Develop Analog IP on deep submicron processes, focusing on tasks like high-speed clocking circuit design, high-voltage I/O, and layout design for Intel's SOC.

  • Integrate third-party IPs into the system, ensuring functional and timing convergence, as well as handling signals crossing power planes and clock domains.

  • Validate and integrate third-party IPs, working closely with design teams to implement low-level RTL design and develop test environments for SOC validation.

  • Oversee SoC development, including architecture design, logic design, system simulation, and multidimensional layout of complex integrated circuits, contributing to the entire SoC design flow.

  • Design and implement combinatorial, power management, and sequential circuits using the latest process technologies.

  • Optimize standard cells for power, performance, robustness, and density through parasitic extraction.

  • Develop automation tools for library layout, modelling, validation, and quality checking.

  • Characterize libraries for timing, noise, power, and variation models.

  • Build, validate, release, and support libraries for SoC and microprocessor design projects.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • Open to Year 1, 2, and 3 students.

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Microelectronics, or Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Science or related STEM fields.

  • Experience in digital circuit design, including CMOS logic and sequential elements.

  • Knowledge of circuit simulation, STA, synthesis, place and route, and physical design verification.

  • Proficient in scripting (TCL, Perl, Python, or cshell) for design automation.

  • Experience with Linux development tools.

  • Knowledge of Unix, VLSI Design, SoC/PC Architecture, and System Verilog is a plus.

  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills in English.

  • Minimum 1-year part-time internship with flexible to be on-site in Penang and work remotely

  • Students will perform internship part-time, dedicating a minimum number of hours per week in a real industry environment while pursuing their degrees at identified universities.
