Job Summary:
This is a Level 7, 3-year Apprenticeship programme that integrates structured education and training, combining on-the-job learning with instruction at an educational facility. Under the close supervision of qualified analysts and reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the apprentice will perform fundamental laboratory tasks as per the requirements of the apprenticeship program and assist with other laboratory duties as necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for carrying out basic laboratory duties that may include sample collection, equipment calibration, solution preparation, stock control and glassware maintenance. The Apprentice will gain an understanding in quality systems and will receive exposure to advanced laboratory testing techniques such as water testing, chromatography and microbiological techniques.
- Comply with the Apprenticeship programme including attending college scheduled classes.
- Understanding the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)
- Develop ability and competence with analytical techniques.
- Apply current good laboratory practices and maintain the integrity of all data that is generated
- Understand Audit processes.
- Knowledge of a variety of testing involved in raw materials.
- Understand change control systems
- Be willing and able to work as a team member to ensure continuous improvement relative to laboratory functions.
- Act in accordance with the company’s Guiding Principles and adherence to the corporate Code of Conduct.
- Compliance to all local site Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and contribution to Improvement of Safety in the Laboratory.
- Compliance to all local site company policies, procedures and corporate policies.
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Pass (Grade O6 or better) in five leaving certificate subjects one of which must be maths and one science related subject
• 250 CAO points
• Successful Level 6 Laboratory Technician Apprentices
• Candidates with a Level 6 in a related discipline
Current employee with relevant experience and qualifications.
Before enrolment on the apprenticeship program the apprentice must have SOLAS Apprentice Approval.
