What to Expect

For the Global Service Manufacturing Team in Tilburg we are looking for an Engineering Technician. In this role you will be responsible for all electrical and mechanical repairs, tests and remanufacturing for the Powertrain department.

You will be responsible to develop, implement and optimize the remanufacture of Tesla parts and systems (including batteries and drivetrains). Interact with other Tesla technicians and engineers to develop, implement and continually improve refurbishment processes, equipment, procedures and help integrate lessons learned into new products.
Optimize product-flow through the repair/refurbishment process, which may include line layout, tool and fixture selection, ergonomic study, equipment- design and implementation, and other relevant factors.
Interact with design, manufacture, test and quality engineers to identify the root cause of in-house and field failure issues, resolve problems, improve re-manufacturability, and implement continual improvement.


What You’ll Do
  • Work safely with manual/power tools and high voltage equipment.
  • Perform complex and precise electrical and mechanical debug, repair and remanufacturing.
  • Outlining / Developing / Improving SOP’s relevant for Failure Analysis
  • Create failure analysis training material and participate in training of production technicians.
  • Work with, and help develop specialized fixtures, test equipment, and procedures for failure analysis.
  • Analyze data from vehicle logs, service databases, repair orders, and production systems and be able to efficiently refine raw data sets to tell a meaningful story and develop action plans
  • Ability to identify and analyze new failures modes from both the field and manufacturing lines.
  • Maintain repair history data through diligent record keeping and adherence to process.
  • Communicate findings effectively to a variate of stakeholders.
  • Support safety initiatives within remanufacturing processes.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area following best 5S practices.
  • Support in establishing and track KPI metrics for production efficiency, quality, safety and cost.
  • Apply lean manufacturing fundamentals to reduce waste, improve efficiency, enhance quality, reduce cost and improve material flow.
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams globally to establish and document remanufacturing processes, e.g. flowcharts and manufacturing instructions.
  • Drive follow-up and verification of actions for quality and production non-conformities, new part introduction and validation of changes.
What You’ll Bring
  • 1+ year of experience with manufacturing/repair/maintenance of electronic/electrical systems
  • Knowledge of high voltage battery, AC motors, transmissions, electronics and DC electrical systems and testing equipment
  • Knowledge and experience with PCBs, FW/SF bugs, CAN communication protocols, diagnosis tools/gauges plus familiar with related software (PCAN, Altium) and applicable standards and best practices (familiar IPC standards or certifications is a strong plus).
  • Knowledge and experience with analyzing large datasets and graphical representation of data is necessary. Knowledge of Python or SQL is preferred.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and related software (Minitab/SPSS) is a plus.
  • Previous Failure Analysis/Root Cause Analysis/8D problem solving experience is a plus.
  • Able to work flexible hours (weekends and split shifts).
  • Ability to perform repetitious duties while standing for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and move weights up to 25kg. on a daily basis.
  • Fluent English (desirable)
