Environmental, Health and Safety Manager
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
Determines directions, priorities and assigns resources with full accountability for results of functional discipline, such as health and safety assurance, air/land/water protection, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, fire protection, etc. Responsible for establishing and managing budgets for one or more departments within a functional area. Heads health, safety, and environment committees.

- Provide transformational leadership, direction, and influence to achieve the EHS vision through management commitment and employee ownership.
- Develop and align facility EHS programs and strategies according to the business/enterprise safety plan.
- Lead the development of risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazards. and the development of controls.
- Partner with facility leadership to develop short and long-term safety objectives, targets, strategies, and measures that prioritize and mitigate risks for the site.
- Investigate and report internally and externally as necessary, injuries, accidents, and near misses. Have a working knowledge of incident investigation and analysis tools. Clearly communicate the outcomes to all employees.
- Ensure resources are effectively utilized and prioritized to according to business, company and regulatory needs.
- Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. Ensure reports are submitted on time to all governmental agencies as required.
- Conduct routine management reviews and adjusting plans as necessary.
- Provide dynamic leadership, coaching and mentoring to the site environmental, health and safety team.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years’ experience with EHS programs and procedures within a private, public, government or military environment
- Three (3) years of combined experience in a leadership and/or supervisory role
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or environmental health and safety (EHS) discipline from an accredited institution
- Experience with hazard and risk assessments and experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with state and federal regulations including (e.g, OSHA, EPA, etc)
- Self-directed, detail oriented, good interpersonal, communication, prioritization, and organizational skills
- Analytical, leadership, project planning, program development and deployment skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with all employees within the plant
- Ten (10) or more years of experience working in an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) role in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working on a cross-functional team
- Applicable EHS certification(s)
