Key job responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer within our team, you will engage with a skilled and accomplished cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative technologies. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive key aspects of technology solution definition, execution and validation. Some of the key job functions of the Mechanical Engineer I include:
• Design system components and secondary subsystems in collaboration with senior peers, own these parts/subsystems through the entire product development life cycle. In addition to technical work, this includes managing the development schedule for these components/systems.
• Create detailed design specifications and validation plans/documentation.
• Build and evaluate prototypes to quickly iterate & improve designs thru rapid learning cycles.
• Validate that subsystems and components meet product requirements, and solve problems when they arise.
• Manage the technical relationship with 3Ps in concert with supply chain to deliver new components to the required specification and required schedule
• Develop one or more areas of subject matter expertise to aid in developing and bringing products to launch – and share this with the team for everyone’s growth.A day in the life
on a given day you will…
• dive deep into engineering design ownership: contributing to system architectures, creating components, creating proofs of concept, getting ready for prototype build cycles or tooling/component releases, preparing for design reviews, running simulations.
• Spend time in the lab: building & testing prototypes in collaboration with colleagues, leading investigations into issues.
• Provide input and expertise to the team in meetings and hallway conversation: reading peer documents and contributing to constructive debate about solutions to difficult challenges, contributing to the refinement of team best practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar field) and up to 4 years of experience in the consumer or industrial electronics industry as a mechanical design engineer
- Experience with design tools including Solidworks and/or ProE/Creo
- Exposure/Familiarity with FEA, DFMEA, and statistical analysis tools
- Exposure/Familiarity with thermal analysis, product validation, and materials process validation
- A curious mind and a tenacity to deliver results and do great things!


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- MS in mechanical engineering
- Some prior experience with delivering products into mass production
- Some experience in engaging & working with vendors and suppliers to deliver in fast-paced technical environment
- Analytical and methodological root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills including DOE and 8D
- System design interfacing to a wide array of electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical sub-systems
- Experience designing with plastic injection molding and tooling, aluminum castings & sheet metal parts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
