PayPal Director Copy Voice
France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
435935224

18.08.2024

You will be responsible for creating and guiding the ideas and words that bring our brand and products to life. Working closely with our team of designers, marketers, fellow copywriters and designers you will add personality, wit and an undeniable PayPal-ness to everything we put out into to the world (and in our office). You will be responsible for the verbal identity of the brand and the quality and consistency of our copy across all touch points while mentoring in-house and freelance copywriters.

What you'll do

  • Manage, lead, and inspire a team of copywriters
  • Oversee, edit, and occasionally write copy for all touch points -- brand campaigns to major shopping holidays, email marketing to direct mail pieces, Instagram stories to digital advertising, product launches and descriptions to online video (and beyond). The copy purview of this role is broad and requires the ability to pivot seamlessly between micro- and macro-level views, and direct others to do the same.
  • Develop and maintain the brand's voice standards and messaging strategy to drive brand consistency and evolution. We are on a mission to become an even stronger, stickier brand with raised engagement and brand affinity. Our words and content are one important part of the puzzle to get us there, and that will be your challenge.
  • Work in tandem with the design and creative leads to guide and inspire the team as well as elevate the brand. Push on each other to move the brand forward, identify efficiencies, and create a rock-solid, holistic creative strategy that spans across channel and ladders up to brand goals.
  • Live in lockstep with your cross-functional partners. You'll be responsible for maintaining seamless communication, understanding and influencing their priorities and goals, and effectively translating creative strategy when required.
  • Do all of the above in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are daily and the volume of work is high. Pace should thrill you, not derail you.
  • Understand the strategy and business context, and always aim to do work that performs. Use PayPal’s wealth of performance metrics and other data (especially customer insights) to guide smarter creative decisions. You will be expected to use data as a key input for your team’s work, and also to understand when data might be getting in the way of elevated creative work.
  • Present concepts(internally and to partners)
  • On time execution of work against scheduled deadlines by the traffic manager
  • Accountable for reviewing all content, ensuring the highest standard of concept and execution
  • Have a perspective on the effectiveness of competitor advertising campaigns
  • Contribute to proactivity and innovative thinking on brands within the portfolio
  • 25% travel

What you'll need to bring

  • A highly conceptual yet hyper-organized creative with proven experience in campaign and systems thinking
  • A strong manager-doer, not just an ideas person. You understand that great brand building is about the execution and the details. You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves while also managing and empowering your team
  • You don't just care about words, you throw yourself into your subject matter - gaining a thorough understanding of your audience, who they are, and what they need
  • You keep up to date with the various channels out there, looking out for what works in different places and why
  • Whether it's social, emails, our packaging or a random office wall that could do with a sparkling dose of charm, you bring the same level of word-based love to the job at hand.
  • 10+ years relevant experience, preferably in fin-tech, retail or agency
  • Proven experience leading and developing a team
  • Experience in branding, omni-channel campaigns, and digital marketing
