Job Description
To perform independently, with supervision:
- Daily care, monitoring and recording of designated experimental animals as well as the daily maintenance of the animal holding facilities
- Routine biotechnical handling and treatments to the laboratory animals.
- Anaesthetise test animals when required
- To perform curative and/or preventative treatments for the laboratory animals in agreement with AH Supervisor and Attending Veterinarian
- To work according to GLP standards as described in SOP's.
- To maintain and/or improve the health status of the laboratory animals within the limits of the experimental protocols and after agreement of the Project leader.
- To suggest improvements of the holding facilities in order to improve animal well being
- To evaluate experimental protocols for their applicability and discuss/suggest alterations to the Project leader.
- Suggest changes to the animal holding facilities depending on the protocol or improved experience.
- To perform weekend maintenance tasks to the animals and the facilities.
Qualifications & Job Requirements:
- Currently studying in a Diploma or Degree in a related field (Aquaculture, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences)
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to communicate effectively in both a written and verbal format (English)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team structure
- Travel allowance will be provided
