People are Jacobs’ greatest asset, and we offer a competitive package to retain and attract the best talent.

In addition to the benefits you’d expect, UK employees also receive free single medical cover and digital GP service, family-friendly benefits such as enhanced parental leave pay and free membership of employee assistance and parental programmes, plus reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships. We also give back to our communities through our Collectively program which incorporates matched-funding, paid volunteering time and charitable donations.

You’ll be responsible for supporting our project teams and external clients across a wide range of sectors, including energy, defence, maritime, transportation, utilities and the built environment. Our Subject Matter Experts are recognised across Jacobs for their knowledge in construction materials and corrosion control.

Here's what you'll need

You’ll be degree qualified in Materials/Corrosion science with direct experience in consultancy work and project delivery in the construction industry. Using your knowledge and experience of paints/coatings and steel, you’ll predominantly provide technical input into relevant inspections, failure analysis and repair options to provide practical solutions. You will also be involved with the broader corrosion mitigation strategies and material specification/ selection of projects. It is noted that this position is not focused on Cathodic Protection (CP) but additional qualifications and skills in that area will be beneficial. You’ll have to possess and demonstrate:

• Knowledge of coating and painting offshore and onshore facilities and structures, predominantly as part of the UK framework

• Experience in preparing materials, paints and coatings specifications for new design and refurbishment projects

• Understanding in materials selection and corrosion mechanisms affecting major infrastructure including highways, bridges, ports, major flood barriers and tunnels

• Awareness of welding and associated corrosion/ materials issues

• CAD experience

Ideally, you will have an MSc in corrosion science and engineering and/or be willing to further develop your career on this field, possess a broad understanding of materials principles and processes gained through experience, lab/research/site experience and understanding of inspection and testing processes and implications, strong CPD record in relevant areas, or H&S qualifications, such as CSCS card, and be willing to work towards confined space training and sea survival training. Desirable, but not essential, is membership of relevant professional institutions and working towards chartered status.

Due to the nature of some of the works we are involved with, eligibility for CT and SC clearance is required.
