The individual we seek should have expertise in soil science, including its application to areas such as agricultural land classification (ALC), environmental impact assessment, soil/peatland management, ecosystem restoration, landscaping and environmental research. The ability to provide input to the design, coordination and completion of soil surveys for a range of purposes is essential. A willingness to develop some technical expertise in geo-environmental work is also desirable. This role is for candidates in the early years of their career.
You will need to be a team player, capable of developing a network of contacts with clients and within the wider Jacobs team. You will need to be willing to work away from your base office, with a high level of personal responsibility and show an adaptable and flexible approach to a range of project requirements. Commercial awareness is essential.
- A good undergraduate degree which provided a strong understanding of soils science, a relevant MSc would be an advantage.
- Demonstrable track record in soils science consultancy or similar, ideally including a mixture of site and office-based work.
- Good digital skills including excel, with experience of GIS.
- Demonstrable commitment to health and safety.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team and build positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, regulators and site-based personnel.
- The ability to produce well-presented and accurate reports and a willingness to learn new skills and apply them in a consultancy setting.
- A full driving licence.
The UK and Ireland Land Quality team includes over 50 soil and contamination specialists that provide strategic advice and innovative solutions to manage our clients’ subsurface environmental liabilities and opportunities.
