Job Description

In this role you’ll be building and developing partnerships with the healthcare community, particularly Scientific Leaders and academic centers in Oncology. Our goal is to improve patient outcomes through collaboration with internal teams and the implementation of our Medical Affairs Plans, executing symposia and medical education initiatives. Additionally, you will collaborate with our field-based teams and other departments to facilitate patient access to our medicines. You’ll engage with healthcare professionals and external stakeholders to provide accurate, balanced, and non-promotional medical information whilst staying up-to-date with our pipeline and representing the Medical Department at medical events. Other responsibilities include identifying suitable research projects and investigators, providing scientific information and training to commercial colleagues, and collaborating with the research team for clinical trial investigator engagement. You’ll also play a role in pan-tumor NHS collaboration projects and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

What you will do:
  • Be the medical expert and represents the Medical Department to provide fair, balanced, non-promotional and unbiased medical and scientific assistance in relation to specific requests from healthcare professionals (HCPs) for further information on our product portfolio, clinical development program, or disease area(s) of interest.

  • Identify, develop and maintain professional and credible relationships with the health care community, especially Scientific experts and academic centres, in the relevant disease area(s) and in partnership with relevant internal functions deliver improved patient outcomes in a given disease area.

  • Lead in the development of the Medical Affairs Plans (MAPs) and implement tactics identified in the country MAP that align with the Company’s therapeutic areas of interest.

  • Work cross functionally and undertake the delivery of specific (or assist the delivery of) projects in the MAP e.g. health technology appraisals, clinical trials, early access strategies, guideline and policy work, symposia, advice seeking activities, medical education initiatives.

  • In partnership with our Global Clinical Trails colleagues, facilitate the delivery of data generation activities (phase II -III), including the identification of suitable research projects, research centres, investigators and innovative methods to generate data.

  • Act as the medical lead, and ABPI Code of Practice subject matter expert, in the delivery of activities relating to pan-tumour NHS collaboration projects (incl. collaborative/joint working projects; pan-tumour initiatives and congresses), in partnership with our commercial collaborators.

  • Ensure that all activities and interactions are conducted in compliance with applicable local, global and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct (including but not limited to the ABPI Code of Practice) company policies and accepted standards of best practice.

What you will need:

  • A strong scientific background in medical or biological science is needed for this role, preferably a GMC registered doctor or GPhC registered pharmacist.

  • Be self-assured in your communication and social skills with excellent strategic planning and organisational skills.

  • Proven relationship building skills with scientific leaders (either in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare/academic setting).

  • Be able to prioritise work effectively; balancing both long-and short-term tasks and be able to demonstrate that the applicant is adapt at being able to identify, develop and maintain credible relationships with relevant cross-functional teams, healthcare professionals, providers, and academic centres.

  • Have a good working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Pharmacovigilance laws and regulations, and an understanding of the wider NHS environment and key opportunities for Pharma and the NHS to partner effectively within the scope of the ABPI Code of Practice and final signatory.

  • Have well-developed communications skills combined with the ability to strategically plan, critically appraise progress, and work towards implementing change with external and internal stakeholders to bring about impactful objectives.

  • Be a champion to maintain integrity and ethical governance for the organisation, always leading byexample.
