Software development engineers on the Kindle Ingestion Management Services team are responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting the code for ebook pipelines from previewing it online to publishing it on the store for all the languages supported on Kindle. You will closely work with stakeholders, customer service agents and program managers to understand the domain and design to meet those future requirements. You will need to be able to articulate technology choices and decisions to a diverse group and be able to influence them. In all, this role is an exciting mix of solid technical complexity, partnering with the business team, and delivery excellence. You will be ably supported by a team of engineers and there will be leadership growth opportunity to mentor junior engineers.
Key job responsibilities
- You will interface with product manager & stakeholders to understand the business requirements. You will author detailed design covering process/data flow diagrams, key trade-offs, technology & cost considerations that you will review with your team’s SDEs/Sr. SDEs as well as impacted upstream/downstream interface SDEs/Sr. SDEs to incorporate feedback resulting in well thought out high quality designs.
- You will engage in design reviews within team as well as within org with aim of providing feedback to elevate the quality of designs. You will engage in various team ceremonies like code reviews, daily standup, sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint retros, operational excellence hand-offs.
- Successful candidates for this position will have a background in Java, or C++. Equally important to these specific skills is a candidate's ability to multi-task, adapt quickly to new development environments and changing business requirements, learn new systems, gain new skills, create reliable & maintainable code, and find creative, scalable solutions to difficult problems.Chennai, TN, IND

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
