As seniorworking with our Electronics offices in Oregon, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and the EU, you will be an integral member of a highly creative, in-house multi-disciplinary team dedicated to innovative problem-solving and design excellence. You will support the design and construction of facilities and structures for our global clients and projects requiring advanced planning and building techniques. Teaming with our diverse group, in our fast-paced environment, you will work across all phases of design, overseeing the project specification process. You will be responsible for developing content and updating architectural Master Specifications. You will collaborate with engineering disciplines to align specification and project content. As part of the Electronics Architecture group, you will have the opportunity to provide technical guidance and participate in developing a program to train and provide continuing education for architects in the creation and editing process of specifications. Duties and Responsibilities:
- With minimal supervision competently perform all conventional aspects of architectural specification development and editing:
- Plan and conduct work requiring judgement and evaluation, selection and adaptation of architectural techniques and criteria.
- Exercise sound judgement and problem-solving skills, not hesitating to reach out to others for guidance or confirmation when questions arise.
- Possess knowledge of principles and practices of architectural design and construction, including ability to apply required provisions of building codes and standards.
- Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and quality control, including checking of others’ work.
- Be responsible for managing your workload, making and keeping commitments, and taking ownership of your assigned work. Work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner with strong attention to detail.
- Ownership of your portion of the design scope, reliably working to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Able to forecast level of effort needed to complete design scope.
- Be ready to identify scope change and escalate it to your Lead or Project Manager.
- Recognize when help is needed, reaching out to peers and senior architects for guidance.
- Be a motivated self-starter who is punctual, proactive, and attentive, with strong organizational skills.
- Developing leadership and coaching skills:
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and/or mentorship to designers and less experienced architects.
- Be proactive in advancing workflows, systems, and tools within the architectural discipline. Embrace emerging technologies.
- Collaborate on producing a departmental program for training and providing continuing education for architects in the editing and creation of specifications.
- Participate in multi-discipline coordination efforts related to Master Specifications.
- On an assigned project:
- Attend project meetings and take an active role to help team resolve concerns and solve problems across all disciplines.
- Participate in and champion internal, cross-discipline, and external project quality reviews.
- Support team in vendor dialog, research, product selection and alignment between drawings and specifications.
- At least 15 years of architecture experience required
- At least 5 years of architectural specification writing experience for large-scale projects
- At least 5 years of experience managing and ensuring project quality, as well as providing ideas and suggestions aimed at improving the effectiveness of specifications
- Excellent client focus
- Working familiarity with the CSI (Construction Specification Institute) system of creating and maintaining specifications
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Minimum CSI CDT (Construction Document Technician) accreditation
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited Architectural program
- Construction Specification Institute (CSI) accreditation
- Professional Architecture license
- Project experience on international projects
- Proficiency with Revit
- Data Center or Advanced Facility building design experience
- LEED accredited
