The Role
As a ‘Head of Government Affairs – Operations’ you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage with government officials, regulatory agencies, and policy makers (primarily at Regional and State level), working across multiple industries and markets such as Transportation & Mobility, Safety, Infrastructure, Energy & Electronics, Healthcare (Medical Devices), and more.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with relevant State Governments and agencies, supporting growth, new business development and seamless business operations in key Indian Regions and States.
- Directly responsible for all state-level policies and all matters associated with the concurrent list, including implementation of Central Government policies at Regional and State level, e.g. but not limited to: Transportation, Healthcare, Public Procurement, GeM procurement rules, import/export issues, etc.
- Develop and maintain relationships with government officials and regulatory agencies to advocate for policies and their implementation such that it aligns with the company's interests at both Union and State level.
- Collaborate with industry associations, partners, and other stakeholders to amplify advocacy efforts and achieve common goals, primarily at Regional and State level.
- Represent the company in committees, at meetings, and industry events at regional level to build relationships, advance company priorities, and create public value.
- Prepare written materials, including policy briefs, policy papers, responses, comments, and other research to support advocacy efforts – in close collaboration with Head of Government Affairs – Public Policy.
- Track and report on government affairs activities, including legislative and regulatory activities and developments, particularly at state level, and provide analysis and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Work alongside 3M India’s Head Government Affairs, Public Policy (also based in Delhi) to closely monitor the legislative changes which will directly and indirectly impact the company’s performance.
Qualifications
- Relevant master’s degree or bachelor’s degree, e.g. in Public Policy, Political Science International Relations, Economics, Law, etc.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant working experience in Government Affairs/Government Relations, e.g. from a Corporate Government Affairs/ Government Relations/External Affairs role, Embassies, associations, chambers of commerce, etc.
- Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of the legislative and regulatory processes and knowledge of key stakeholders at Union level and State levels in India.
- Demonstrated Government Affairs experience from working in highly regulated industry sectors in India.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop and execute advocacy strategies that achieve measurable results.
- Good command of English, Hindi. Knowledge of other Indian languages (oral/written) will be a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (esp. Excel and Power Point).
