Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience in privacy operations, compliance, and/or risk management experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Experience conducting privacy reviews, managing privacy impact assessments (PIAs/DPIAs), and evaluating engineering or product privacy posture.
  • Experience translating privacy requirements and regulations into actionable engineering plans that will influence technical design and infrastructure considerations.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Relevant certification or equivalent a plus (e.g., International Organization for Standardization [ISO] Lead Auditor, International Association of Privacy Professionals [IAPP], Certified Information Privacy Professional [CIPP], Certified Information Systems Security [CISSP]).
  • Technical fluency in cloud services (e.g., Azure), data security concepts (e.g., encryption, access control), responsible data use principles, and AI/ML data governance.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Security technologies, solutions/services interactions and interdependencies.
  • Experience with and awareness of emerging privacy and data governance related regulations.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft’s privacy ecosystem and internal tooling.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Privacy Technical Program Manager, you will:

  • Conduct privacy reviews to evaluate the privacy posture of services and features, ensuring alignment with Microsoft Privacy Standards, GDPR, CCPA, and other global frameworks.
  • Embrace a “privacy by design” mindset; collaborate with engineering, legal, compliance, and product teams to embed privacy into the development lifecycle and resolve complex issues. Prevent local/one-off solutioning whenever possible.
  • Translate regulatory and internal privacy requirements into actionable guidance and scalable operational processes for engineering and business teams ensuring the highest bar of end user privacy and data protection.
  • Lead and drive various privacy initiatives such as DPIA/PIA/ROPA lifecycle management, privacy incident response coordination, and/or AI data use governance.
  • Educate and enable teams to adopt privacy best practices and foster a culture of privacy awareness across engineering teams and the organization.
  • Monitor KPIs and SLAs, identify gaps in privacy operations, and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and compliance.
  • Drive simplification and automation to evolve processes, services, and solutions, to increase agility while lowering costs.
