JOB DESCRIPTION

The Advanced Application Engineer will be supervised by the OC Engineering Manager.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for sound technical design & delivery of Operator Competency solutions (Operator Training Simulators (OTS) and Process Digital Twins (PDT), in alignment with the customer requirements and to the full satisfaction of the client unlocking the targeted business value using state of the art technology.
  • Lead critical project activities, ensuring buy-in and acceptance from the customer, including Project Kick Off, Functional Design Specification development, Process Modelling, Model Acceptance Testing, Control and Safety System integration, FAT & SAT.
  • Share technical knowledge with project team, supervisor, own discipline and other disciplines. Lead or support improvement technology plans developed by business technology leaders and influence the product development.
  • Provide pre-sales support using commercial, technical, & functional knowledge to identify requirements, risks and assumptions, compile estimates, prepare proposals and presentations/demos as appropriate to further the pursuit and submit the bid.
  • Cultivate client relationships as a trusted technical advisor while identifying revenue & growth opportunities in the Operator Competency space.

Knowledge Skills and Experience

  • Advanced Application Engineer must have a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in delivery of Operator Competency solutions (Operator Training Simulators (OTS) and Process Digital Twins (PDT).
  • Expert knowledge of at least one of the following process simulation packages: UniSim Design, Aspen HYSYS, Invensys DYNSIM.
  • Programming skills desirable (VB, VBA, Python)
  • Knowledge of DCS systems (Honeywell Experion & TDC3000, Yokogawa Centum V/CS/CS3000, Siemens, Foxboro, ABB, Emerson & others)
  • Excellent verbal, written communication & presentation skills. Strong team player able to work effectively with customers, multidisciplinary project teams and other departments within the company.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting & and problem-solving skills, quality oriented, logical & thorough. Candidate should be able to learn quickly, think efficiently, and inquire effectively in order to gather and understand user requirements.

Other requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in chemical engineering or equivalent
  • This role requires some travel to customer sites (up to 10%)
  • Fluent in local and English languages
