Your expertise will be vital in navigating the unique challenges of semiconductor product development, including complex hardware-software integration, stringent quality and reliability requirements, and the need for secure, collaborative development environments. You will play a key role in ensuring that Qualcomm's developer services architecture is agile enough to adapt to rapid technological advancements and changing market dynamics while maintaining our position as an innovative leader in semiconductor technology.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and documenting business capabilities, processes, and functions.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive enterprise architecture that aligns Qualcomm's developer services goals with technological capabilities and product development strategies.

  • Design and implement innovative development processes, systems, and toolchains that drive engineering excellence and product innovation in the semiconductor industry.

  • Create and manage architectural roadmaps guiding the evolution of Qualcomm's developer platforms, DevSecOps practices, and product development ecosystems.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify engineering needs, translate requirements into actionable architectural solutions, and ensure alignment with overall strategic direction.

  • Lead the development and implementation of scalable, secure, and efficient enterprise application architecture strategies, focusing on enhancing developer productivity and product quality.

  • Evaluate and recommend cutting-edge technologies and solutions (including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS) that enhance Qualcomm's agility, efficiency, and innovation capabilities in semiconductor product development.

  • Provide expert guidance on emerging technologies and their potential impact on Qualcomm's developer services architecture, particularly in the context of semiconductor industry trends.

  • Ensure architectural integrity and alignment across development processes, data, applications, and technology infrastructure in the developer services domain.

  • Define, implement, and enforce architecture standards, policies, and governance processes to maintain security, quality, and compliance across all developer services functions and applications.

  • Conduct regular architecture assessments, monitor development performance metrics, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement and optimization.

  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance engineering efficiency and product development outcomes.

  • Advocate for and implement best practices in application development, deployment, and lifecycle management, with a strong focus on DevSecOps principles and practices.

  • Mentor and guide other architects, developers, and technical teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning in architectural practices related to developer services.

  • Provide strategic support to various engineering departments, ensuring their alignment with the overall developer services architecture.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, with a strong background in software development, developer platform engineering, DevSecOps, and semiconductor product development, including leading enterprise-level application projects.

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the semiconductor industry and its unique product development challenges.

  • Enterprise Architecture: Extensive knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF) and their practical application in engineering environments.

  • Software Development: Expertise in multiple programming languages and paradigms relevant to semiconductor development (e.g., Java, C++, Python, VHDL, Verilog).

  • DevSecOps: Proven experience in implementing DevSecOps practices in complex engineering environments, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and security automation.

  • Cloud Computing: Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and experience in architecting cloud-native solutions for developer services.

  • Data Architecture: Solid understanding of data architecture principles, including data mesh and data strategy concepts, with a focus on engineering data management and analytics.

  • Modern Development Practices: Extensive experience with Agile methodologies, SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, and their application in hardware-software co-design environments.

  • Project Management: Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in engineering transformations.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex engineering needs into actionable architectural solutions.

  • Communication: Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both engineering and non-technical executive-level stakeholders.

  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership and change management skills to drive the adoption of new development processes and tools across engineering teams.

  • Semiconductor Expertise: Demonstrated experience in architecting solutions for complex semiconductor product development processes.

  • Engineering Toolchains: Extensive knowledge of engineering tools and platforms used in semiconductor development, including EDA tools, version control systems, and issue tracking systems.

  • Security: Strong understanding of security principles and their application in both software development and hardware design processes.

  • Product Lifecycle Management: Proven experience in architecting end-to-end product lifecycle management systems for complex semiconductor products.

  • Compliance and Standards: Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements specific to semiconductor product development (e.g., ISO 26262 for automotive, DO-254 for aerospace).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Education: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Industry Expertise: Deep semiconductor industry experience, particularly in advanced node development and emerging technologies (e.g., 5G, AI/ML accelerators, IoT).

  • Professional Certifications:

  • TOGAF Certification

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Experience with RISC-V architecture and open-source hardware development

  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDL) and high-level synthesis (HLS) tools

  • Expertise in AI/ML model development and optimization for edge devices

  • Cloud and Infrastructure:

  • Experience with hybrid cloud architectures for semiconductor development

  • Knowledge of high-performance computing (HPC) architectures for chip design and simulation

  • Data and Analytics:

  • Proficiency in advanced data analytics and machine learning for predictive engineering analytics

  • Experience with big data architectures for managing and analyzing semiconductor design and test data

  • Automation and Tooling:

  • Experience in developing custom tools and automation scripts for semiconductor design flows

  • Expertise in integrating and customizing commercial EDA tools within enterprise environments

  • Collaboration and Knowledge Management:

  • Experience implementing enterprise-wide collaboration platforms for global engineering teams

  • Expertise in knowledge management systems and practices for preserving and sharing engineering expertise

  • Innovation: Track record of innovation in semiconductor development processes or tools, with patents or published works in relevant fields.

  • Open Source: Active participation in open-source projects related to semiconductor design or development tools.

  • Emerging Technologies: Demonstrated experience architecting solutions leveraging emerging technologies such as quantum computing, neuromorphic computing, or advanced packaging technologies.

  • Cross-functional Expertise: Understanding of adjacent domains such as product management, supply chain, and customer support, and their interaction with the development process.

  • Global Team Leadership: Experience leading or architecting solutions for globally distributed development teams.

  • Sustainability: Knowledge of sustainable practices in semiconductor design and development, including power optimization and environmental considerations.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration or a related field is strongly preferred.

Pay range:

$168,400.00 - $252,600.00
