Job responsibilities
- Leads multiple technology and process implementations across departments to achieve firmwide technology objectives
- Directly manages multiple areas with strategic transactional focus
- Provides leadership and high-level direction to teams while frequently overseeing employee populations across multiple platforms, divisions, and lines of business
- Acts as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives
- Manages multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations
- Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
- Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
- Lead and mentor a team of Cloud Engineers/Architects and Operations Engineers who define and implement the data observability and resiliency strategy for the company’s data platform
- Strategize and implement resiliency across Data Asset, Platform, and consumer-specific resiliency by enabling Cross Account Cross Regions (CACR) S3 replications, AWS Lake formation cross-regional backup, Glue Catalog cross-regional backup, and applications HA setup
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align data lake and pipeline initiatives with business goals while driving innovation and best practices in data management and engineering
- Design the architecture and oversee the implementation of the observability across data platforms
- Guide the team to build Hybrid Cloud Applications and scalable, secure, and cost-efficient Splunk-based Logging and Tracing, and enable applications that support data ecosystems on AWS
- Enable networking across services
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment
- Monitor system performance and implement proactive measures to ensure reliability
- Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations for the team
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training, or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ year of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization
- Experience developing or leading large or cross-functional teams of technologists
- Demonstrated prior experience influencing across highly matrixed, complex organizations and delivering value at scale
- Experience leading complex projects supporting system design, testing, and operational stability
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
- Extensive practical cloud native experience
- Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Expertise developing applications using Java and Python
- Relational databases including Oracle, Postgres, AWS RDS, and AWS Aurora
- NoSQL databases including Cassandra, Neo4j, DynamoDB, and MongoDB
- Experience designing database back-up, recovery, and archiving strategies
- Deep experience building APIs using Spring Boot, REST, and Maven
- Using Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning on AWS; AWS Data Stack
- AWS VPC, AWS ECS, AWS Data Lake Formation
- AWS CloudWatch, AWS Cloud Trail, Lambda, EMR; Glue, Athena
- Big Data, Spark, Grafana, Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk
- Transit Gateway, NACLs Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)
