What You’ll Do
The Director of Live Services on the Internal Games team will be responsible for identifying, establishing, and running all central game product management processes related to launching, operating, and optimizing live service games for our internal game studios. The person in this role will take analysis and insights derived from multiple sources, including our cross-functional strategy, analysis, live services, and data science teams, to drive actionable strategies, strategic execution, plans, and recommendations across the internal studios organization and portfolio (including slate strategy, product strategy, and the approach to live services). You will be expected to form great relationships with our internal game teams, working through influence to ensure that all of our internal studios have top-notch game PM, live operations, and analysis capabilities. You will also be expected to form great relationships with our cross-functional partners who dive deep on analysis and insights and the platform teams who are in charge of developing and optimizing the games platform, discovery surface, recommendation algorithm, etc and advocate for the needs of internal studios when it comes to the tech and tools required to launch and operate great live service games on the Netflix mobile download and TV/Web streaming platforms. You will have the opportunity to influence the evolution and fine-tuning of the unique metrics used to evaluate game and portfolio performance in a subscription service. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge and understanding of the competitive market for high-engagement feature design and live service programs, be able to anticipate and identify key emerging trends, and help our studios and our slate planning team be on the cutting edge of live service game development.
Responsibilities- Establish central processes and identify best practices for successful game product management and live operations of subscription and cloud based games.
- Partner with our first-party game studios, strategy, and central live services teams to ensure accurate forecasts for game launch KPIs.
- Participate in phase reviews for the internal games slate to help ensure that game teams are properly resourced and set up for success with respect to all things PM, live ops, and analysis. Provide ongoing support to game studios in their development and operation of live service games.
- Seek out data from all available sources (game strategy team, game teams, our external development team, customer insights, etc). Synthesize data and insights into recommendations that can inform our live ops best practices and content strategy decisions. Work through influence to inflect our games and slate based on these recommendations.
- Work with Netflix games platform and product teams to advocate for the tech, tools, and processes required for internal game teams to successfully launch and operate live service games.
- Partner with internal studios leadership to shape the go-forward strategy for internal game development at Netflix.
Required Qualifications- 8+ years of experience in the gaming industry, working in analytical roles including strategy & analysis and product management, assessing ongoing performance and optimization for games in multiple categories.
- Deep understanding of video game metrics with experience reading and interpreting metrics, forming and leveraging hypotheses to influence roadmaps and strategies.
- Experience running live service games on any platform (PC, console, mobile) with the ideal candidate having deep mobile live service experience.
- Experience as a heavily engaged player of live service games and a deep understanding of engagement drivers in live service game titles.
- Expertise in creating and presenting engaging, insightful narratives through data.
- Experience managing cross-functional groups and game teams through influence.
- Continuously looking for ways to improve and iterate on existing frameworks, or building anew for best results. Passion for video games, innovations in software, and how they enrich the player experience.
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is$220,000 - $900,000.
