In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Work in the traditional actuarial areas, such as reserving, pricing and capital modelling, but also deploy, which may include projects covering analytics, business steering, capital optimisation, actuarial and finance transformation.
- Assist clients operating in the local insurance market, but also the potential to work across borders, supporting a market leading actuarial team within the UK and European insurance markets.
Your key responsibilities
- Assist in the technical delivery and reporting for projects, managing teams of actuarial consultants and taking ownership of the overall project delivery.
- Assist in discussions with client contacts and help to manage expectations of delivery, content, timescales and cost.
- Present to clients at different levels, including senior executive and board levels.
- Collaborate on non-actuarial led projects as a topic / subject matter specialist (where appropriate).
- Contribute to the development of intellectual property to support sales-oriented client interaction.
- Assist in responding to client proposals.
To qualify for the role you must
- Be able to apply actuarial approaches through a commercial lens and help our clients improve the way they operate.
- Have a strong academic record, including a degree and professional actuarial qualifications (IFoA or similar, qualified or part-qualified)
- Have experience of at least two of the following:
- Claims reserving under different accounting bases
- Development or review of Solvency II technical provisions
- Review or validation of Solvency II internal models and/or standard formula
- Building and developing capital models
- Actuarial support for implementation of IFRS 17
- Be a strong team player and be able to work flexibly on different clients and different engagements.
- Have experience in managing project teams and contributing to building a high performing and inclusive team working environment.
- Have strong quality ethic and drive to focus on professional development.
- Be a problem solver; tailoring what you have learnt from your experiences to date to different client problems to help design and implement the solution.
- Be an excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral.
Strongly desirable but not essential
- Experience in working in the London market, or UK general insurance market.
- Using actuarial software packages for reserving or capital modelling.
