Global Investigations (GI) is seeking a highly talented, self-motivated and analytical individual to conduct internal fraud monitoring and detection investigation under the Global Financial Crimes & Customer Protection (GFC&CP) Program. This role requires prior experience investigating complex matters relating to fraud and financial crime, and experience in analyzing and identifying linking in data across multiple sources. This role also requires a self-starter with the ability to think critically and strategically when handling investigations, seeing beyond the initial facts presented and reviewing information thoroughly and in a highly organized manner. This role also requires the ability to operate independently, manage multiple competing priorities with difficult deadlines, and exhibit a sense of urgency when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Investigate allegations of internal fraud or other insider misconduct, including reviewing leads generated from internal alerts and detections.
- Partner with management and other stakeholders to support development and evolution of investigative strategies and new detection alerts.
- Utilize PayPal internal tools and systems and external data sources for investigations.
- Leverage various investigative techniques and sources, including open-source intelligence, to identify subjects and establish relationships between parties and accounts of interest.
- Evaluate linking between accounts to identify scope of networks and subjects behind suspicious activity.
- Build strong relationships with key partners and senior
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills
- Relevant Bachelor’s or Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years professional experience including investigating financial crime, internal fraud/insider abuse (preferred), cybercrime, complex fraud/AML and/or high profile/high priority events.
- Proven ability to analyze voluminous and complex evidence and data in order to report criticalinformation.
- Ability to understand opposing points of view on highly complex issues.
- Experience at PayPal and institutional knowledge is preferred and valued.
- Data query and analysis skills (SQL, SAS, Teradata, Hadoop, Splunk, etc.)
