This role would suit an individual early on in their finance career/corporate career with some experience of working in a Finance department, looking to take the next step in their career.

Whether you’re a Graduate who completed a placement year, somebody who has re-trained in Finance or somebody who has recently started out their career in Finance, this could be an incredible role for you.

This unique opportunity will grant you exposure to various treasury functions within Sony Global Treasury Services. Our aim is that within 2 years, you will have spent time inSettlements, Reconciliations & Deal Confirmationsteams, understanding their key processes & in turn, enabling you to understand the wider function on a higher level.

Overall, your purpose will be supporting the Treasury Operations as part of a team of 5. You’ll be helping us streamline our operations whilst protecting controls & continuously improving our processes too.

You will:

Depending on which team & role you are aligned to first, your responsibilities will vary, but below, you can get an understanding of the different actions you’ll undertake for each role.

Settlements Team

  • Management of FX netting communications with external banks according to internal deadlines.
  • Management of various type of payment runs, including but not limited to SAP payment runs, ad hoc manual payments to internal and external counterparties (input level of payments and templates), internal bank account transfers, Advice To Receive (ATR), sister company funding and investments.
  • Communication with external banks and their various teams on any aspects of settlement operations, including investigation and follow up of issues, supporting and resolution of enquiries.
  • Support and liaise with all SGTS internal teams and sister companies as required.
  • Prepare required reports, including Settlement Diary Checks (SDC) to make sure no payment is missed on daily basis.

Reconciliations

  • Performing Daily Bank Reconciliation duties for 30+ accounts (20+ currencies)
  • Approx 50k entries per month
  • Daily reporting of bank balances to Management and the reasons for short cash positions
  • Investigating mismatched & and unexpected items on bank accounts
  • Manual entry of specific Treasury instruments.
  • Ensuring Payment in Transit entries are cleared in a timely basis.
  • Logging, following up and resolving ofunderpayments/overpayments
  • Reporting of interest claims and overdraft costs on bank accounts to HQ
  • Suggesting operation improvements and system enhancement to HQ

Deal Confirmations

  • Matching and reviewing all FX, currency option or money market deals with banks and investigating discrepancies within SAP (TMS)
  • Ensure all deals have been uploaded into Treasury system.
  • Approx 1.4k deals per month
  • Verifying automatic confirmations and conducting manual confirmations when necessary
  • Reporting of unmatched or cancelled deals on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Perform confirmation of Internal settlement of deals.
  • Direct contact with External banks and internal Treasury teams.

You will bring:

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of working within a finance function/environment
  • Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPS/Pivot Tables/Formatting)
  • A keen interest to build a career in Finance
  • High level of attention to detail
  • An innovative & solution-oriented mindset
  • The ability to manage complexity

Ideally

  • Some previous experience of working within a finance function/environment
  • A core understanding of the purpose of an internal Treasury department
  • Exposure to reconciliations & confirmations process using online banking platforms or other payment systems

The Recruitment Process

Once you submit your application, your profile will be carefully reviewed by one of our Talent Acquisition team. If your profile is suitable, we will then invite you to participate in a self-recorded video interview. You can complete this whenever suits you & wherever most comfortable. Note, you’ll have unlimited retake opportunities, should you not be happy with your submission. Following that, you’ll then be invited on-site to our Weybridge office to meet with several members of the team & partake in an Excel based case-study task. Once this step is complete, we’ll be ready to move to offer stage.

Based at the Weybridge office, you will enjoy a vibrant and friendly working environment. We have an onsite canteen with a wide range of options available, and a barista style coffee shop. There is a well-provisioned onsite gym run by our own Sony Wellbeing Coordinator, with classes on set days in the mornings, at lunch and after work hours. We have a staff car park which includes electric charging points, an undercover and secure bike rack (useful if you’ve made the most of the Cycle-to-Work scheme), or if you will use public transport we have a shuttle bus service that regularly runs between train station and the office at peak times.

We currently require our Weybridge based employees to
work on site a minimum 3-days per full working week.
