Red hat Principal Software Engineer - CoreOS

In this role, you’ll be part of a distributed team and will coordinate work with other engineers, product managers, product owners, scrum masters, and community members to write new features for a rapidly changing container orchestration space.

The role involves working in an agile environment on feature enhancements, bug fixes, and test automation. You’ll help define the architecture of new projects or features, and develop those from inception through to adoption. Expect to write code, review pull requests, fix bugs, update docs, and work with other teams to design complete solutions.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Lead new development work and maintain existing services and infrastructure and co-designing the future CoreOS build pipeline based on Konflux based on Tekton.

• Participate on a scrum team and complete tasks assigned within sprint boundaries

• Give demos to your peers on work you’ve completed each sprint

• Work with upstream communities like Fedora, Fedora CoreOS, OKD, and Kubernetes

• Ensure test plans for the code you create exist and that documentation is correct

• Design and implement automated test cases

• Analyze defects, design solutions, and engineer fixes

• Own your team’s components, measure and track its health, help colleagues and users understand its functionality.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of Linux (using Linux as workstation or server to run applications)

• Experience of how Open Source and Free Software communities work

• Experienced with CI/CD pipelines deployment and maintenance (Jenkins/Gitlab CI/Argo CD or other)

• Experience with at least one of the following: Golang, Rust

• Experience with Linux containers or Kubernetes

• Good written and verbal English communication skills

• Experience with at least one public cloud

• Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment

The following are considered a plus:

• Experience with Linux system programming

• Ability to present to customers and stakeholders

• RHCSA certification or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers
