Provide machining and hand fitting services to maintenance technicians for emergency repairs of equipment, jigs, and fixtures, and assist in the development of new products through prototyping.
Manufacture new jigs and fixtures based on technical drawings and modify existing parts, tools, or fixtures per drawings or verbal requests.
Rework production consumable parts, such as sharpening cutters, and perform minor rectification work on small batches for production.
Offer training and coaching to apprentices and HOS technicians while ensuring the timely completion of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) actions.
Book jobs in the toolroom, plan work to meet requests, monitor consumables, conduct total productive maintenance (TPM) activities, and maintain high standards of 5S and timely completion of Kaizen ideas.
Key Skills and Qualifications
City and Guilds Toolmaker\Fitter and\or ONC Mechanical Engineering. A recognised indentured Toolmaker\Fitter apprenticeship
Related experience - preferably working with plastics to close tolerances. Whilst not essential it would be advantageous if the candidate has managed a small toolroom or model shop previously
Operation of toolroom equipment, and technical understanding of how to Mill, Turn and grind metals, but also machining of plastics, as well as ability to read and interpret a wide range of drawings
Ability to improvise and complete repairs in a timely manner
Ability to programme CNC mills, experience of Tryax Centroid M400 control would be beneficial.
