Job Summary
As a Fund Accountant within the JP Morgan Fund Accounting Team, you will be instrumental in the creation and review of the Net Asset Value (NAV) and other key tasks that contribute to the accurate valuation of our mutual fund clients. You will assume direct accountability for the production, review, and delivery of activities tied to regulatory compliance and client reporting. This role allows you to engage in the detailed and quality-focused production and review of both NAV impacting activities and regulatory reports, providing an opportunity to significantly influence our operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform reconciliation of cash and asset breaks between accounting and custody.
- Prepare daily activities in accordance with SOPs and within agreed client deadlines and SLAs.
- Conduct a self-review of activities before handing them over to the reviewer.
- Analyze client accounting records, raise queries, and escalate potential issues when appropriate.
- Escalate concerns about anomalies in any activity that may lead to audit findings for clients.
- Assist in resolving team queries and act as a reference point for junior team members on technical, accounting, and audit-related matters.
- Interact with stakeholders to respond to any accounting-related queries that may arise.
- Recognize and act on opportunities to improve processes, including developing and recommending changes, and encourage the team to propose ideas for efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to all risk and control checks, follow all required checklists and SOPs, and keep them up to date at all times.
- Ensure that all firm resources are used judiciously for business needs only.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Be able to work within a team and build key internal relationships across locations with partner sites.
- Have very strong attention to detail in review of documents and analytical review capabilities in relation to Fund Accounting numbers & reporting.
- Knowledge and understanding of Mutual Funds and NAV.
- Possess the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines at peak delivery times.
- Be able to implement change, seek efficiencies and manage initiatives along with your daily workload.
- Risk, control and procedure oriented. Have analytical & prioritization skills and be capable of making judgments.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- The candidate will have 3+ years’ experience in a Fund Accounting/custody or a good understanding of financial markets having worked in them.
- Post graduate with knowledge of Finance/Accounting will be added value.
