The Design Manager for Airside Design plays a critical role in the planning, design, and execution of airfield projects, ensuring compliance with aviation standards while enhancing operational efficiency. This position requires a blend of technical, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of airport operations.This role further requires the best use of organization resources in defining,and delivering planning goals and, for major Aviation programs to meet and exceed the requirements for clients.
Specific duties include:
- Management: Lead and manage airside design projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Design Oversight: Oversee the development of design strategies for taxiways, runways,apronsand other airfield infrastructure, ensuring alignment with overall airport master plans.
- Project Monitoring:Project monitoring and review schedules to assure projects are on time and within budget projections.
- Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, architects, and airport operations personnel to integrate design solutions that enhance safety and efficiency.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with stakeholders including airport authorities, regulatory bodies, and contractors to ensure projectobjectivesare met.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures throughout the design process tomaintainhigh standardsof safety and performance.
- Aviation Expertise:Leveragea strong background in aviation-related professional services, particularly in major planning, engineering, and project management.
Innovation: Stay updated on the latest trends in airfield design and technology, applying innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.
Here's what you'll need
- Engineering degree
- 15+ years’ experience in the aviation market, ideally with relationships with existing clients
- Experienced in major airports project delivery.
- Experience in developing and leading a teamonconsulting staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices in aviation.
- Experience in developing clientrelationships.
- Experience in business development and tendering for major projects in the aviationenvironment.
- Ability to be flexible in travel/location/relocation as necessary to support.
