We are currently seeking a Design Manager with experience in the Energy sector to lead and oversea the design activities for Transmission and Distribution projects. In this role, you will be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary design teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables and playing an important part in the U.K. energy transition.
Key responsibilities
- Build and lead a high-performing design team for EHV/HV projects.
- Lead Design Management requirements and allocate resources as appropriate during FEED and detailed design stages.
- Integrate multiple engineering teams including Substations, Protection and Control, OHL and Civils.
- Ensure design alignment with project goals, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance throughout project stages from concept to commissioning.
- Manage compliance with Standards and Client requirements and assist in monitoring to ensure working to standard requirements.
- Provide regular progress reports to project leadership, highlighting design challenges, proposed solutions, and milestones achieved.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or working towards chartered status
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary design energy team.
- Relevant, professional experience in HV and EHV project designs
- Experience in delivering projects for UK Transmission Service Operators (SSEN, National Grid, Scottish Power Energy Networks) is preferred.
